Nazizi or First lady real names Nazizi Hirji is a Kenyan hip hop/ reggae artist who is part of the Necessary noise and East African Bashment Crew that has Wyre and Bebe cool as other members. She is known for Hit singles like Kenyan gal Kenyan boy, Bless my room; let’s get down, Fire anthem, Kube, Forever, Tension, jump n shout amongst others. Ugamuziki talks to her in this interview

 

Ugamuziki: who is Nazizi or the First Lady?
Nazizi: What can I say? I am bad and I am wiked like that for real I am just chilling taking every thing as it comes

Ugamuziki: where and how did it all start the music thing I mean?
Nazizi: I started my music career doing freestyle battles and talent shows in school then finally got a chance to work with ted Josiah on my first single ‘ni sawa tu’ which was an instant hit and the rest is history

Ugamuziki: what makes you happy and if something can make you mad what is it?
Nazizi: I love animals especially dogs I have 5 dogs at the moment saga, Judy, sox, ash and fupa i hate fake people and wannabe artists!

Ugamuziki: You are part of the group the East African Bashment crew and recently bebe cool one of the group members was shot in Kampala how does this make you feel
Nazizi: E.A.B.C is a revolutionary group that changed the East African music scene it means a lot to me and my career and i consider the boys part of my extended family and hate if anything is to happen to them. Sad that bebe was hurt; it only makes us stronger as a group.

Ugamuziki: And the Necessary Noise?
Nazizi: well that’s me and Wyre, initially there was another member Bamzi with whom we recorded our first album

Ugamuziki: Are you Hitched? Relationship i mean, taken?
Nazizi: Yes I am in a relationship that’s all I can say

Ugamuziki: How many songs/ albums do you so far have?
Nazizi: I have one solo album which is my latest ‘African Youth’ two albums with the necessary noize and one album with the East African Bashment Crew.

Ugamuziki: Let’s talk about your solo album ‘African Youth’ which has ‘Jump n shout’ a song seemingly doing well at the charts.
Nazizi: Jump n shout was the first song released from the album and it was basically a happy song felt like things are always goin wrong in Kenya recently so wanted to give the people hope and determination and basically forget bout the sorrow! i named the album African youth because the songs on the album i believe tell a story about different things African youth go through love, sadness, joy, party etc.
